Hubungan antara Motivasi dengan Pencapaian Matematik Murid Tahun Lima

Abstract

Motivasi adalah antara elemen penting yang memberi kesan ke atas pencapaian Matematik murid. Justeru, pencapaian Matematik murid di Malaysia masih kurang bersaing di persada antarabangsa. Satu kajian kuantitatif dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap pencapaian murid dan tahap motivasi murid. Hubungan antara kedua-dua pemboleh ubah ini turut dilihat. Teknik pensampelan rawak digunakan untuk penentuan bilangan responden dalam kajian. Borang soal selidik diagihkan kepada 250 murid sekolah rendah dari sebuah daerah di Negeri Sembilan. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan tahap pencapaian matematik responden masih perlu dipertingkatkan, manakala tahap motivasi responden berada pada tahap yang sederhana tinggi (min = 3.14; s.p = 0.745). Didapati hubungan antara motivasi murid dan tahap pencapaian dalam mata pelajaran Matematik adalah lemah tetapi signifikan, r(250) = 0.299, p = .000 (p < 0.01). Kajian ini memberikan implikasi kepada pihak sekolah dan para pendidik untuk meningkatkan motivasi murid dalam menguasai mata pelajaran Matematik. Hal ini penting supaya memastikan langkah intervensi dapat diambil oleh pihak berkenaan dari peringkat yang lebih awal untuk meningkatkan tahap motivasi murid dimana motivasi Matematik perlu dibina dari peringkat kanak-kanak.
