The Impact of Population Aging on Regional Economy: A Case Study on Anhui Province of China
Abstract
One of the biggest challenges to sustaining economic growth is population aging. Anhui province in China is also experiencing rapid population aging. This study examines the influence of population aging on economic development in Anhui Province through three key channels: consumption, investment, and net exports, using Gray Correlation Analysis. The results indicate a strong association between population aging and these economic factors. The correlation rankings, from highest to lowest, are investment, followed by household consumption, government consumption, and net exports. Based on these findings, the study recommends increasing investment and developing the aging industry, actively utilizing elderly human resources, and enhancing export activities to promote net exports. These measures aim to foster sustainable economic growth in Anhui Province.
